Welcome to the Gallery!
The Pocahontas County Artisan
Cooperative opened its doors in May, 2007. Based in Green Bank, West Virginia, the co-op showcases the original work of artists
and
craftspeople from Pocahontas County and the surrounding region.
Artists whose work is on display at the cooperative get to keep 100
percent of the proceeds from the sale of their artwork. Instead of
charging a commission on artists’ work, the gallery is
supported
through the payment of modest monthly dues by all members. Members are
also asked to work at least one day each month to keep the gallery
open. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to the gallery to
meet and talk to the artists.
On weekends, visitors might also catch a glimpse of
one of the artists
working with metal in a portable forge, carving wood or demonstrating
one of the other many mediums featured at the gallery.
The Cooperative is the perfect place to find that special gift or a unique piece to take home.
Mark your calendars now for 2010 - May 8 to June 26 - Mountain Heritage Artisan Demonstrations and Workshops. A list of the demonstrators is now online. This program is presented with financial assistance through a Grant from the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, with approval from the West Virinia Commission on the Arts and by the Pocahontas County Arts Council.
